    Pain Psychologist Position Opening

    Stephen E. Francis, PhD & Associates is a medically-based psychological practice focused on Pain Psychology and Neuropsychology.  All patients referred to our practice have sustained industrial injuries and are in the CA Workers’ Compensation System.  Referral sources include pain physicians, physiatrists, orthopedic surgeons, attorneys, and insurance claims adjusters.

    Our main office is located in downtown Oakland with satellite offices in Walnut Creek and Los Altos. 

    At this time, we are looking to fill a position for a Pain Psychologist.

    Hours for the position are 25-32 per week. 

    Job Duties:

    Initial Evaluations-these are often complex cases and initial face to face contact will last 2-2.5 hours.

    Psychological Testing-all initial evaluations include psychological testing. Psychologist should be familiar with psychological tests used such as MMPI-2-RF, BHI-2, DAPS.

    Reports-each initial evaluation requires a report usually 8-10 pages in length.  These reports need to be completed in a timely fashion.  Reports are dictated.  Psychologist needs to have experience with dictating.  Psychologist will be performing approximately two to three initial evaluations per week. 

    Psychological Clearances- these are for implantable devices such as spinal cord stimulators and intrathecal pumps and spine surgeries. 

    Psychotherapy-cognitive behavioral therapy for chronic pain patients on a weekly basis. 

    All interested applicants must have a PhD or PsyD from an accredited Psychology program.  Must be licensed in good standing with the BOP.  Relevant pain psychology experience should be documented in the CV.
